A Clash of Earth and Sea (El Jefe Judging) [See Part II]

Round 4
Iggy fishes a glass eye from out of his spell component pouch and uses it to get a clear image of the other side of the battlefield. He's surprised to see that the casters seem to be some sort of fish men... substantially less human in appearance than the merfolk. One of them has just finished letting loose one of those green rays that have been slashing at the merfolk, the other seems to be waiting for something, arms held up and ready to cast a spell.

Suddenly, 20 Merfolk charge at the two spellcasters. Magic missiles spring from the hands of the ready fish-man, striking down one of the merfolk. The first fish-man is stabbed repeatedly, taking 24 damage and going down, the second avoids most of the attacks taking only 5 damage.

[Zack goes here.]

[Sara goes here.]

Ducane reduces the summoned shark to bloody bits, which quickly disapear.

[Ogres go here.]

OOC: Don't forget your AC bonus from the Haste spell. You've got another round or two of that.

Seeing his wizard opponents, Iggy will ready a magic missile spell. If the creature attempts to cast a spell on its turn, Iggy will shoot him, hoping to disrupt the spell. Otherwise, Iggy will drop his inititive to last in round 5, and shoot him anyway.

OOC: spell damage: 11

Zack waits for his brother to turn the shark into sushi, and then kicks himself off the bottom, staving off Merrow attacks as he moves to engage the monster that attacked him.

OoC: Swim check (1d20+1=14)
Total defense, then move 15ft. to threaten the merrow that hit him. If he can get so that he threatens two merrows, even better (though if that would place him in the threatened area of one or more merrows that otherwise wouldn't threaten him, it isn't an option).
AC 20 while fighting defensively thanks to haste.

Round 4 continues
Zack carefully tries to slip past the guard of the Merrow assaulting him, triggering three attacks of opportunity. He is hit twice for a total of 26 damage.

Sara also charges forward, making her swim check. Coming at a different angle, she draws two attacks, and is hit once for 11 damage.

She deals the offending Merrow 11 damage in return.

The Merrow move back in order to once more bring their longspears to bear, provoking attacks of opportunity from Zack and Sara.

ooc: Please roll your AOOs... I'll roll the Ogre's attacks after that. Also, I will be travelling for the next couple of weeks and updates are likely to be infrequent for that time.

Zack, being at exactly -10hp, is unable to make his AoO (well, technically the 'dead' condition does not prohibit AoO, but...)

Oops, forgot Zack was allready damaged. 13 from the orignal merrow attack, 3 from the shark, and 26 from the AOOs. He has 29 hp normally, or 35 when raging. I don't suppose he was raging? If so, Charlarn would have a short time in which to save him.

OOC: 3 AoO. This is brutal. These merrows undewater with longspears. I guess Iggy's round 4 action is pending the enemy wizard actions.

OOC: Ducane is seriously going to have a not-so-friendly chat with the mermen if they survive the battle. Strategic maneuvers my ass...

On another note, I bought World of Warcraft. I'm doomed. Sorry.

Charlarn of Phyrah: male human cleric 3/ranger 2

"Ow" is right. I guess that means that Charlarn will head for Zack rather than one of the downed mermen in round 4.
