No one appears to be close by, but for this sort of trap to be usefull someone would need to check it fairly regularly.

Iggy shushes the party after he calls out. Assuming they hear no one, "Well, perhaps we should camp here tonight. Maybe the rabbit hunter will return. I'm reluctant to go tramping off away from the lake in search of the screamer, and I don't think we'll find her just wandering around."

It is only a few hours later, a bit before dusk, when a small party of humans comes by to check the traps. Three young human men, carrying spears, stop abruptly upon seeing your group.

"Who goes there?"

ooc: The shout was a few hours ago, so it seems likely these newcomers did not hear it.

"Noise? I don't know what you mean. What are you doing out here in the woods? It's a dangerous place, you know, especially with what's been going on in the lake."

Ignatious breaks into a broad grin at meeting the friendly people. They actually seemed concerned about the party's safety. This meant they were back in civilization. Was this not what made the good humanoid races so successful? The cooperated, looked after each other, formed bonds of friendship.

Iggy bows low. "Greetings. I am Ignatious O'Reilly, Divinor and graduate of the academy of the Chromatic Order. We have traveled to this land from Orussus on a quest to help the Merfolk of this lake. However, we do not how to contact said people. I am very pleased to meet you, and hope we can solve some of the problems associated with these woods. Could you elucidate the nature of the situation?"
