A Clash of Earth and Sea (El Jefe Judging) [See Part II]

OOC: How is their lair described? Is it in a tree or up on a cliff? Or could it be accessed by someone short and disinclined to climb things, like Iggy?

OOC: Does Charlarn have knowledge (nature)? did he try those checks? Is everyone else still with us?

Oops - I meant to switch out comprehend languages with True strike. Too late?

Iggy keeps his crossbow loaded. Kennedy the bat is fearful and hangs on Iggy's backpack. Iggy leads his pony with his left hand. "Make sure to keep an eye on the sky, my friends."

OOC: Unfortunately he doesn't. So only info with a DC of 10 or less.

Charlarn also carries his crossbow loaded. He scans the sky for these stonebird creatures (Spot +3). "Do you think that was the flying thing we saw a couple days ago?"

OoC: Still here :)

IC: Zack is glad when they decide on a clear course of action, even if it is different from the one they had when coming here. When they set out in the morning, he leaves his original breastplate in the room provided.

On the way, he keeps his scythe at the ready and his senses sharp, not wanting to be caught unawares.

ooc: While the list of monsters may be a bit long, it *is* a very large lake with a very large surrounding area. :)

Two large winged creatures, roughly humanoid in shape and apparently made of stone burst through the forest canopy and attack!

Surprise Round
DC 10 listen or DC 14 spot to qualify to act in the surprise round.

Initiatives, please!

Edit: Combat starts at a distance of 15', monsters are above and a bit north of the party.

Zack notices the beast men as they come to view them, though it takes a moment for him to realise just what they are. He readies to swing when one comes close enough to the ground for him to strike it.

OoC: Spot 19, Listen 3, Init 9.
Ready action to attack or partial charge if one comes close enough to the ground. Attack 7, Damage 14
Gah, excellent damage wasted on a horrible attack roll. Doesn't have +2 for possible partial charge.
