A Clash of Earth and Sea (El Jefe Judging) [See Part II]

"We can give you a force of 40 warriors. We'll ask ???? (Does anyone remember the name of the merman Shugenja? Probably lost in the wipe.) to stop buy and see how he can help you as we gather together the needed force."

OOC: You're probably thinking of Lord Hirdoro Musaki of the Ariathi Lake Merfolk!

ooc: Wasn't that the Shugenja's brother or cousin or something? (I'm clearly relying too much on EN World's built in record keeping!)

Moromita Musaki, shugenja of the Arathi lake merfolk, comes to meet you in the underwater ampitheter. He seems to be worried, perhaps due to the military mobilization going on in the waters around you, which you can observe through the many windows throughout the chamber.

"I see you prepare to lead my people into battle against the Merrow. I hope you are able to keep them safe if the Merrow opt to meet you in the open water. How may I help?"

Iggy speaks deferently to the merman leader. "Moromita Musaki, we cannot guarentee the safety of your warriors, any more than we can guarentee our own. It is a dangerous task we face, and we are not experienced at underwater combat. I would think your warrior would actually be better off in open water. What sort of weapons do your soldiers use? If they would prefer the open water, perhaps we could go into the cavern, and try to lead the merrow out by pretending to retreat. The merrow we fought used very long spears. It is difficult to close with them. A barrage of missiles might be effective, though."

Charlarn bows and says, "I'll use as many gifts of the Searcher to aid your people. We are destined to follow this path together. It will lead to victory over the corrupters." He thinks over combat underwater. "My lord, do you have spears that can be used with a shield? My morningstar is hard to swing under the water."

"Our warriors normally use tridents or crossbows in battle. Unfortunately, we've found the barrage of missiles technique largely ineffective against the merrow, since their spears can keep us backed up quite a distance... a crossbow's range when fired through water isn't much. We would be happy to get you a trident if that would help, Lord Charlarn."

"Do you command any magic which might be used to circumvent the merrows advantage in reach, or perhaps nullify the magical spells they are likely to employ?"

"I wouldn't mind a Trident or a Halberd either, if you have any spare ones. My sword doesn't really work that well underwater.", Ducane says.

"Certainly." Moromita send an aid to fetch some spare tridents. "I take it you will wish to seek firm footing at the lake bottom if you do engage the Merrow in battle outside their caves? Unless, of course, you intend to employ magic that will aid your ability to swim?"
