A class using inverted stats!

You should know though, that I don't use the normal spell lists, I have a magic system inspired by the card game Magic. Five colors, a caster only gets to use one of the colors unless they multiclass. The Dementist is able to use Black spells, which is the color of decay, undeath, death and madness. The Dementist will be somewhat of an expert on the madness part :]

This sounds amazingly interesting. I play Magic for a number of years. I would be VERY interested in seeing a copy of this spelllist, if you have it on PC. As well as anything else you may have written up about the system. Magic items, classes, etc. If you would e-mail me a copy of this, I would really appreciate it.

I once had a homebrew aberration that did exactly this to any creature within 60 feet of it. If you had a Constitution of 21 or higher, you dropped dead immediately (21 is 10 points higher than 11, 10 points lower than 10 is 0). No save, no SR, nothing. In most cases it simply resulted in PCs with pathetic ability scores while they attempted to fight the thing. But if you had a score with that magical number of 21+... :]

"Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil" has a Madness domain for Clerics that looks a lot like this, but more streamlined. I'm not sure where else to find it if you don't already have the book.

I like the idea, but I'm going with the herd here and saying that because of the very nature of d20, you'll have more success penalizing the Dementist as part of their progression, rather than trying to invert their stat. This sounds like something much closer to a PrC than a base class. You might also look to the Malkavians & Ravnos of WoD fame for inspiration as to Spec. Ability progression.

Looks like it made it into Deities and Demigods, and from there, into the SRD.
