That one reminds me of a quote from the 21st century philosopher Lil' Jon. - "Yeah!"
Its a perfect example of what alignment is good at. Being short hand for a much more complex and nuanced set of beliefs. Bats, like most characters with some depth, has it in him to be every alignment in the spectrum. We can probably thank the dozens of writers who have used him as a tool to explore some of the darker parts of their own humanity for that. There are a few obvious traits that spring to mind when someone says they want to play a character like batman, but I'd expect any 2 people would build "batman" completely differently. Likewise, i don't expect any two people to have the exact same definitions of any of the alignments. 5e all but eliminating alignment from the game mechanics was one of the reasons I bought the books.
