A critique and review of the Fighter class

Batman's mind is usually emphasized vs higher tier does.

So Batman has Mind, Money, Henchman/Backing/Tech, and a Fearsome Title.
not thinking that is different than when I said gadgeteer/artificer .... the lesser battle companion is not exactly a major empowerment unless like Gilgamesh that companion is on your same order of combat potency.
I can respect the desire to view the fiction resulting from the mechanics that way, but it’s not the only way.

Never seen any one in the story toe to toe with a Dragon, like they are supposed to in D&D. That is a story in D&D terms usually asserted to be heroic tier and even Smaug was killed by a character you might as well call NPC (after its hit points were depleted by hoards of npcs shooting volleys), we were given so little context for the character It was Deus Ex Machina.

Does not convince me of high level at all.

Yeah Batman gets to outsmart the reverse flash and give advice on how to fight doomsday and even put on some shock gantlets and fight paradooms. he stopped being 'some guy' years ago. He can out lift any non magic D&D character out run them and out smart them...

I wasn’t. I was saying you don’t have to be a Marvel superhero to fight dragons, in response to Garthanos.

Marvel superheroes have big ranges. If you don't think a high level fighter should be able to do what Hawkeye, Black Widow or Captain America can do? That IMO is a really odd take on high level or even mid level play.

Very much Implying there was a comparison to be had when obviously there really wasn't anything that justifies the "fighting a dragon" close up by a small number of heroes.

And Instead of being out of genre like Marvel, How about names from the 2e PHB, like Cu Cuhlaine... and Perseus and Herakles, Beowulf, Siegfried, and the likes or Alexander the Great (for warlord fans).

Sorry your example and attempt to strawman are both poor

See, that’s where you are taking your ideas of what the game represents...which are totally valid, just not exclusively so...and assuming that's the default. Your vision of heroic tier, which I think is shared by many, is just one of many.

Samwise Gamgee stood toe-to-toe with Shelob. Is he a gonzo superhero? I think the D&D mechanics can represent that fiction just fine.

Again, not saying your vision of "heroic" is bad or wrong. Just that it's not shared by everyone.
