A d20 NPC Wiki?

Next, choose a descriptive name for the NPC or monster, and enter a link for it on one of the various index pages. This name should be more than a one-word summary - instead of naming an NPC "Thug", consider naming him "Generic Human CR2 Thug". Click on that new link and you will create a new page for the NPC.

If we're posting a CR2 Human Thug, and there is already a CR2 Human Thug page, should we pick a different name or add more than one stat block to the same page? It might be worth having some kind of policy on that.

And, btw, it's nice to be having a discussion with someone in a similar time zone: I'm used to waiting till the next day for my replies! :)

Just name it "CR2 Human Thug Variant 2" or something like that. It's probably less messy to give each its own entry, though of course you can link between them...

Posted an example, just because I could.

What do people feel about racial traits/class features/etc? Have full descriptions on the pages, or just let people look them up if needed?

Personally, I would like to have their descriptions, unless it is something obvious. Things like Sneak Attack, Rage, or like Scent are common enough that no descriptions are needed, but if someone has an ability called Blood and Guts or something, I've never heard of it and don't know what it does. I suppose if for some reason something cannot be statted out, at the minimum put where it can be found [book and page number].

Though it's probably too much to ask, something like the Hypertext d20 site would be awesome, where the ability name is a link to its description so there would basically be a storage of these descriptions and all you would need to do is click on the ability and be linked directly the description of what it does.

Couldn't we just use external links to link to the Hypertext SRD?

I do have a question. How are things supposed to be statted out? In the example of the Dwarven Monk [which looks pretty good, btw, though I personally think it should have had a separate place for Equipment], it is basically a stat BLOCK. Should the NPCs be like that or should each entry have its own line? I guess I'm asking cause I dislike the the block format.

I have no idea if external links would be allowed or not, but only things within the SRD could be linked to that site. I guess that could work if everyone decided to stay within the core rulebooks...

The monk was just an example to provoke suggestions and comments (like this one): he's not supposed to be a definative example of how it should be done.

In fact, it's actually one of my pbem characters, I just wanted to get discussion moving ;). And someone might have a need for a CHA dwarven monk at some point...

I like the block format, as it is easy to cut and paste and saves time on my printouts - but in the end, everyone should just choose the form he feels the most comfortable with, and I'm certainly not going to be anal about this. Demanding adherance to one specific format is probably too much to ask for, as everyone has his own favorite format, and to my mind the main thing is that we have as many NPCs as possible, and that all are readable in some form or another.

Of course, if there are People With Too Much Time On Their Hands, they can try to change and split up the entries into both the standard DMG-style stat block and the lengthier format (as seen in the Monster Manual)... ;)

Equipment should definitely be part of stat blocks, however. Of course, that's not necessary for monks, but any standard equipment that a character uses (weapons and armor - whether magical or not - scrolls, potions and so on) should definitely be mentioned somewhere.
