A face only a mother could love: My soft spot for abombinations of characters

@Wik: I never really thought about it, but I suppose that I *do* enjoy attention at the table. I am never the most effective character, but the flexibility I take in several character roles ensures that I am playing in every "scene." Hmm.

Ditto on this bit. It doesn't matter how much damage you do with your twinned, split, empowered, maximized, repeating scorching ray, or how much you supermount can charge for when you're spending three sessions at a festival/ball/royal soire trying to gather info, bluff, and diplominate people.

Oh, I love to play in every "Scene" - my favourite class is spellthief. What I'm talking about are players who have crazy multi-builds - the wizard/warlock/loremaster/x/x's out there. in my experience, they tend to enjoy showing off their character and using the spotlight.

It's not a bad thing (the spotlight is, after all, a good thing). But I've found these people like to spend their spotlight time showing off their character doing something cool using the rules, as opposed to the straight wizards or fighters who sometimes use the spotlight time doing something else (often, this doesn't involve the rules at all).

Not better or worse, just different.

(btw, I realize my above statement could cause a fight - I don't mean to, and I hope it doesn't lead to it. I've seen, and enjoyed, both styles of play. Just an observation coming from my neck of the woods).

Corsair, you're a man after my own heart. I too love making up various character concepts, usually involving various obscure rules (though not always that complex), particularly high and epic-level characters.

Have you considered posting your characters online at the d20 NPC Wiki? Posting them there - along with a large series of (as I title them) design notes to explain the various sources used, methodology for coming up with the numbers and combinations, and brief summaries of what the various (non-SRD) mechanics do - can be great fun, and allow other gamers to enjoy the fruits of your mad creations. You can even make your own page (like I did) indexing your characters.

I for one would really like to see that gnome character, and whatever else you've put together.
