It could be interesting to hear Piratecat's thoughts on this.
While it might be an interesting method for treating insomnia, don't expect it to replace a solid eight hours. It's the entire sleep cycle including REM sleep that's important, not just the delta wave/stage 4 sleep they describe in the article.

Color me dubious, but I'll be interested to watch this develop if there's anything to it.

Sleep is overrated.

You only need about four hours a night to function, course you function better on eight, but I sleep less then five to six a night average.

So do most people, but people who get a full 7-8 hours of sleep a night usually are less stressed, get sick less often, are less prone to depression, and are generally happier more productive people. Getting a full night's sleep is one of the first things a doctor will recommend when you're not feeling well, either physically or mentally.

Saying you can function on four hours of sleep is like saying you can function on just one glass of water and a potato chip as your food for the day. You CAN do it, but do you WANT to?

Hey Harmon ... you cracked 1000 posts! Second level! :)

Congrats!

...I'd try it out. Lord knows I try to get a full 8 hours, but then I get attracted to something shiny, and nex thing I know I need to be at work in 4 hours.
