D&D 5E A Generator for 5E Prep in 5 Minutes

The 5E Prep in 5 Min generator is meant to you elements you can include in your D&D 5e game. To supplement a current adventure, support an idea or if you have players who tend to go their own way.

You are welcome to give feedback about content, usability, layout and suggestions for improving it.

Currently it has Names, NPCs, Encounters, Settlements, Rumours, Quests, Villains, Treasure and Simple Dungeon. These were decided by a previous poll

It makes use of Sobran's NPC Generator, Rumours gen from Morrus and updated version of Sobran's Name Generator

ToDo
- Make Gens 5E specific (Settlements, Villains)
- Get Terrain filter to affect certain generators (Settlements). Done for Encounters and Dungeons
- Get Levels filter to affect some generators (Villains). Done for Encounters, Treasure, Quests and Dungeons
- Get VGtM filter to affect generators (maybe Villains, maybe Names, maybe Quests, maybe NPCs)
- Think about future versions focused on Dungeons, Cities, Wilderness or others (poll to come)

This is great because provokes thoughts and helps the creative process.

If your are interested in a critique, maybe correlate the NPC descriptions closer to the ability scores.

For example, one NPC has ‘high Constitution and low Charisma’, but then, incongruously, it says they have ‘talent playing music’. If they have low Charisma, then her poor Performance skill checks, their unappealing nature, or worse, ignorable presence, makes it unlikely to be a ‘talented’ musician.

In an other example, an Awsimar with an ‘eye twitch’ (!), has ‘high Intelligence and low Wisdom’ (!!), and ‘can drink anyone else under the table’ − which is fine, but one might expect the person with the high Constitution would be better able to do that.

Not a big deal, because the DM can sort thru these incongruities while piecing together an encounter. But maybe worth mentioning.

Correlate as follows?
Highest ability score → best skill → description of quirk

Thanks!

This is using the popular DnD 5E NPC Generator by Sobran, which is made from the tables in the 5E DMG. It's one of three generators that others have built.

But if there is interest I can build an updated version of the NPC generator (or a new one) once I'm further along.

Unusual Locations have now been added. These will correspond to the chosen terrain in the Terrain filter.

Locations for encounters have also been improved.

Next up is improving the formatting a little.

I was skeptical at first, but, wow, what a source of inspiration it actually is!

Edit: And added to the "best of" thread
