A good month for Robin (spoilers for Identity Crisis 5 and Batman 633 and Titans 17)

Teen Titans #17: After assisting Superboy and the Legion in the future, the Titans travel back through time, and miss home. 10 years in the future, they encounter the darker sinister version of themselves, with Tim now calling himself Batman. We saw (but Tim didn't) older Tim shoot Joker's daughter with a gun. Later, young Tim wonders "Why would I ever want to be Batman?"

Identity Crisis #5: Tim's dad take down former flash villian Captain Boomerang just as he is dropped by a razor-rang to the chest. 95% theyre both dead. Tim and Batman were en route to provide assistance but haven't see the result yet.

Batman #633: In the finale of Warganes, Tim's sorta girlfriend Spoiler dies in her hospital bed after previously being beaten up by Black Mask. Bats hasn't even told Tim that Steph is missing yet, let alone dead.

We're pretty sure in the timeline, Wargames takes place first, then the Titans story and then IC, but who knows. Even still, thats a heep of stuff to have piled on the poor kid so quickly. He used to be the HAPPY, well-balanced one.

Meh. Never cared for the character and I thought that Spoiler's
death was pretty well done.

That said, I am against Editor-Driven-Deaths(tm) on principle

I knew that it was 99% likely that Spoiler would die from the moment that she put on the Robin costume. Of COURSE Tim was going to be Robin again. And frankly I was amazed that Tim's dad has survived as long as he has. :) Hmmm...maybe there is some new trend going to start about even numbered Robins being morally ambiguous (more so than the odd numbered Robins: Jason Todd probably killed a [edit: it was a coke-addict murdering son of a diplomat (with the diplomatic immunity...odd foreshadowing of Jason's death at the hands of the Joker along with the Joker's (temporary) diplomatic immunity)], and Spoiler was using "kill" moves to help Batman) and getting offed, starting with Jason Todd. Really, the only other choice for death was that Onyx character. Frankly, I find the Black Mask has gotten annoying and hope that the Joker wastes him.

And I don't think that the Titans' futureline is the "real" future. The character that looks like the "Joker's daughter" leaves Riddle-me-this clues like the Riddler and her last name is Dent like Two-Face. That a lot of villains to play daddy. I'm surprised she didn't have alligator teeth like Killer Croc. Although she did seem to be very strong... :) Also, young Raven felt "No Hope" in the millions of people in the world. This is some sort of dark "elseworlds"-style alternate, but not the baseline future. IMHO.

Duela Dent was a foe of the original Teen Titans, and she claimed to be Joker's Daughter. So there's a bit of a homage there...

I don't know. Like you, I didn't really care for the character (no particular feelings either way, actually), but I thought all of Batman's "You've done a good job," talk- [spoilers]knowing that Stephanie had started the War Games scenario in the first place[/spoilers]- was a crock.

That being said, I found the whole premise and execution of War Games to be somewhat underwhelming in itself...

Maybe if the Dead Spoiler and the Dead Jason Todd team up as "Robin and Robin (dec.)", and help the new Spectre (Sue Dibny) bring the Blask Mask to justice...nah...that would never happen... :)

And by the way, am I the only one that thought that Batman was being way too proud and arrogant? I mean, one phone call to Superman, the Flash, one of the Green Lanterns, etc., and Blask Mask is caught and put in jail. There, done. War over. No more fatalities.

James Robinson made a point of how the first Starman was a hero precisely because he swallowed his pride and called his friends when there was too much going on in his city for him to deal with on his own. (The Ragdoll business)
