A Magical Society: Beast Builder

A large part of what i liked so much about the first two Magical Society books was how little of their content was tied to D20 System mechanics. They're roughly equally useful for any appropriate setting, no matter what system you're using. How does Beast Builder stack up in this regard?

Hrm... Here's a rough breakdown by chapters/pages.

1: Concepts and Functions: 8 pages not system specific but with system information (ie. what SRD monsters are "Disablers"?)

2: Monsters and Their Environment: 43 pages or so almost exclusively systemless. 2-3 pages of d20 stuff I believe.

3: Type and Subtype: 19 pages, mostly related to d20

4: Bits and Pieces: 5 pages, mostly d20

5: SA/SQs: 86 pages of 600 SA/SQs. mostly d20.

Appen 1: 3 pages- only d20

Appen 2: 2 pages- only d20

Appen 3: 12 pages- only d20.

This boils down to around 55 pages that are not related to d20 and the remainder of the 224 being related or table of contents, liscense etc...

However, the information that is d20 in the chapters 4 and 5 can easily be divorced from the system and used as idea generators outside the system. Of all the MS books, this one is the most d20, but should still find lots of use for those who use another system.

I'm flipping through it now. Good book. I'm generally not big on monsters, as far as I'm concerned, you could have an entire campaign with just humans. But I know I'm a minority opinion and my players certainly get bored of those games. Essentially, monster creation is a weaknes of mine. This book is going to go a very long way in helping me.
