Question:
"Your party stops at a village for much needed supplies. The village elder won't sell or give you any, and can't be persuaded otherwise; he's not evil, he just doesn't seem to trust you. The party is strong enough to take the supplies by force. What would your party do?"

Notes:
Definitely not one for the paladins, since they're never in a moral dilemma.
If you choose option 4, examples would be appreciated

define "much needed". If we're such low level/in such bad shape that we can't create/gather/hunt for food/clothes/shelter, then we aren't going to be able to take it from a village by force. If its not a matter of food/clothes/shelter, then its stuff we want, not need, and as I don't play evil characters, my characters don't take things by force that they just "want". We can live off the land/magic for a while until we get someplace where we can buy what we want.

Why won't he sell supplies? Is he just a jerk? Is he evil? Are the villagers starving?

Lack. Of. Information.

The villagers are neutral. You don't know why they won't give you supplies. They just don't seem to trust you.

I ask questions. I find out if there's a reason for their mistrust that I can rectify.

If I'm not able to find out, then I go elsewhere.

Investigate why they are so hesitant to sell the party goods: this sounds like the begining of an interesting adventure that could really go in a dozen different directions.
