A new beginning.

Round 2. Down to the Courtyard.

From behind the chapel, both Dravis and Caedren fire at the orc. Dravis' sling bullet (Attack Roll, 14 + 1 = 15) pings high off the top of one of the crenelations, shards of stone scattering into the air and out over the north wall.

Caedren's first arrow flies high (Attack Roll, 13 + 4 - 2 = 15) , distracted by the sound of Dravis' sling. The orc's shot crashes into the side of the chapel, adjacent to where Caedren is leaning out to fire, the bolt splintering (Attack Roll 9). Despite Caedren's impressive speed, the orc hunches down behind the side of the wall, and the arrow strikes stone, it's steel sparking briefly before the shaft snaps.

Aerlyn leans out as Caedren reaches for his second arrow. A sudden twang gives her only the shortest of warnings, but she pulls her head back just in time to avoid a bolt that speeds in her direction(Attack Roll, 8). Catching her breath, she curses as she realises that she didn't see where the shot came from (OOC - Spot Check, 4 + 3 = 7). As Dravis and Caedren reload, both distracted by this task, she hears a strange rolling sound from the roof. (OOC - Listen Checks, A - 15 + 3 = 18, C - 4 + 2 - 2 = 4, D - 9 + 3 - 2 = 10.)

(Fallon is still gone, so Aerlyn is only +3 to spot/listen.)

Hearing the strange sound, Aerlyn immediately jumps back pointing at the roof and tells Caedren and Dravis:

"Do you two hear that? On the roof! Look out!"

(OOC- When did Fallon leave me? I thought he flew back to my shoulder when I was running to the tower?)

"Caedren, take the jug of green slime from Aerlyn and throw it up there."
Dravis gestures upwards towards the rolling commotion.
"With haste! Then let's make our way back to the tower, it's as safe a place as this. I'm afraid the bell tower might be heldfast from behind and I'd rather not find out firsthand."

Caedren, taking the clay jug from Aerlyn, starts his way across the wall to the North Tower. Staying as close to the outer wall as possible, as to remain concealed from the orcs sight, he stops a quarter of the way and crouches. With all his might, he springs up from the crouch and heaves the clay jug upward toward the bell tower roof. With the jug still on it's course, Caedren turns and dashes for the door.

Aerlyn, seeing Caedren motion for the clay jug, swings her backpack off her shoulder. Undoing the tie with one hand, she quickly reaches in and pulls out the clay jug. With care, she places the jug into Caedren's outstretched hand. Hearing more noises from the tower above, she grabs her backpack and sprints towards the door.

Dravis, after seeing Aerlyn and Caedren's exchange and the resulting throw from Caedren, follows his companions across the wall to the tower, praying that the door is unlocked.
(OOC- I'm sure we can all agree to assume those are the correct order of things, si?)

Round 3. Back to the Northwest Tower

Dravis is first off, moving quickly along the top of the western wall. He catches a glimpse of an orc leaning out from behind the eastern side of the chapel, raising a crossbow at the Druid. (Attack Roll - 2). The orc's shot is wild, however, and Dravis reaches the door. He throws it open and moves into the tower. His eyes take a moment to adjust to the gloom, then flicker over to the second door in the eastern side of the tower. It is unbarred.

Aerlyn fumbles in her backpack, each moment an eternity. The orc on the Northern wall takes his chance, and fires at the elven girl. (Attack Roll - 14). Fortunately, Aerlyn's sheltered position behind the back of the chapel allows her to duck behind solid stone. The bolt impacts heavily on the stone chapel. Thrusting the jug at Caedren, she is off and running.

Caedren takes his chance to hurl the jug, an oath on his lips. (Attack Roll - 10 + 4) Though it nearly lands in the tower, the window space is fractionally too small, and the jug splatters its contents onto the roof. He then takes off, running pell-mell.

As Aerlyn and Caedren take off, another of the clay jugs rolls off the chapel roof. (A: REF - 19, C : REF - 19, Reflex save for half damage). Though both try to leap out of the way, both get tiny specks of green slime on them. Despite the sun burning off the slime as they run to the tower, both feel a agonising sensation of pain on their legs. (You both take 1 temporary CON damage).

As Caedren runs into the tower he looks over his shoulder, and sees a black-cloaked figure moving into the courtyard, taller than the orcs flanking him by two handspans. This centre foe carries a mace - the head worked in the shape of the skull.

(OOC - Ok. Dravis uses his move to cross to the door. Opening the door takes the rest of his action, so he dives inside without shooting. Caedren delays to initiative count 8 [Now acting after Aerlyn] then takes the jug from Aerlyn, and throws - an attack. Unfortunately, he needs to have shot on the run feat to move, so he has to take the shot from under the tower. Aerlyn uses her action to retrieve the stored pot, then moves to the tower. Aerlyn, Fallon wouldn't have helped you pass the spot check - it was DC 12. However, I'll let you decide if you had him fly back to your shoulder or kept him out of the way. Let me know either way. The Black Figure now moves at Initiative 14. Combat will continue in the tower, so let me know what your actions are. More than one action is ok, but each round spent lets the orc's prepare.)

(OOC- Well, we made it to the tower with very little mishap. Ummm, my bad Chris, there is no way to make it to the unexplored tower, so we're back in the slimed tower. Now, I'm not sure what to do from here. Good grief. Mayhaps set a quick ambush? Or move out and regroup? Your calls. We killed four, that's a start! LoL."

(OOC- Chris won't be able to go online today, but I think your ambush idea might be a good idea. We should think of a way to seperate the orcs so we can try and kill them one by one. Not sure how though. We'll have to discuss with Chris.)

(Oh yeah Nick, I guess it's ok for Fallon to have flown away so he doesn't get killed. Unless you foresee me desperately needing him for something.)
