Dravis, his adrenaline draining, looks around as if formerly unaware of the situation. He grips his thigh and walks, more hobbles, back to the tower. Bracing Aerlyn upon himself, they make their way to Caedren. He then sits down and breathes while staunching the flowing blood.
"If we intend to pursue, we must make haste. However, first I suggest we heal ourselves; sadly, we have no time to rest. It seems this enchantment upon our companion was intended to slow us down."
Dravis spits towards Caedren, attempting to dispell the foul presence left by the black priest.

Aerlyn sits next to Aervir and watches as Fallon swoops down onto her shoulder. She gently ruffles the feathers on his head and looks at Caedren with emotion in her eyes.

"I know we could have defeated that priest! He was a coward paralyzing Caedren and running away like that!"

She shifts her view to Dravis.

"We probably shouldn't chase him in the condition we are in now. We need to heal and I should get my spells back before going into combat again. Perhaps we should find a safe place to stay the night and continue our search at first light?"

Caedren is quite relieved to see Dravis and Aerlyn stumbling toward him through the corner of his eye. The sight of blood on both brings an unsettling nervousness to the pit of his stomach. Not much the conversationalist, Caedren just remains still and thinks over the day’s events and what to do next.

OOC- I however, would like to voice my opinion. Heal! Heal! Heal! How many rounds is the spell going to last for? Do you guys want to take refuge in the tower, or do you want to leave the keep altogether? Either way we would have to set a watch. You think we can find more of that slime lying around? Nick, check your email. Where did that bolt come from that distracted that orc? Do we all level up if we go rest? We would be in a lot better shape if someone gets a healing spell.

(OOC- sorry, the bolt was Fallon, the spell is done now, it lasted for 4 rounds. You won't level up in the keep just yet - you going to all get new feats, which means you have to spend some time training, probably in Camayr. But don't worry about that just yet. Aerlyn has no 1st level spells left. Dravis can heal 2x with Cure Light Wounds.)

Dravis pulls himself up and lays his hands upon Aerlyn's fresh wound. He mutters something under his breath and then fingers a sprig of mistletoe from around his neck. The wound congeals and then begins to close. He then turns his attention to himself and does the same.

"Aye, perhaps I was rash in want for blood. Aerlyn, how long before you can cast again? I think that's the longest we should rest here, lest the trail grows cold with time."

Dravis stands and stretches, evidently wanting to make his way down to the courtyard.

(2 of you said you want to rest. So I'll have you guys rest in the courtyard. Aerlyn and Dravis are both at full hit points, having recieved 5 and 9 pints respectively. Both Dravis and Caedren get 1 CON point back.)

Dravis continues, "I think I should take the first watch, then Caedren the second. Aerlyn should take the last watch."

OOC- Oh cool. Chris and I didn't know that Dravis had a healing spell. I'm fine with leaving immediately if you guys think that would be the best thing to do. Nick, how long does it take for me to get my spells back? We should probably go after him soon before he has time to completely heal himself. I can always just attack with my spear if I had to. I also still have daze and ray of frost that I can use. We should probably just leave now.

Caedren replies, now unfrozen, says "In retrospect, I think we should rest just long enough for Aerlyn to regain her magic missiles. It would be unwise to rush into the situation weary and unprepared, as we have done before. So I say we stick to the watch bill proposed by Dravis and continue after we have rested at least for awhile."

All of you settle in for the night, eventually deciding to camp between the side of the chapel and the wall, so you are protected on two sides. Since it is cold and unpleasant, the night passes slowly. Dravis' watch passes without event, as he chews on a small collection of nuts and seeds, spitting them away into the courtyard. When it comes time for Caedren's watch, the half-elf wakes up by himself, and takes Dravis place. He carefully replaces his bowstring dividing his attention, between this task, and also on keeping watch. About two-thirds the way through his watch, Caedren suddenly sits bolt-upright (OOC - Listen Check 7 + 2 = 9) .

Only scant feet away, a footfall has carried to him, looking into the gloom, and fumbling desperately for the horn grip of Shadrath's sword, he peers into the night (OOC - Spot Check 17 + 2 = 19) . He sees a figure leaning on a very long, two-handed sword, and then recognizes him as Aervir. Wearing rags, stained with refuse and blood, some of if from a still oozing cut in his forehead, and limping slightly, Aervir still looks to be in quite good spirits. The paladin wearily smiles, and walks into the camp, first shaking hands with Caedren. "I knew you'd come." He says simply.

Please post your reactions to Aervir, Caedren, and Dravis/Aerlyn do the same if appropriate. The rest of the night then passes unremarkably. You are down to three days of rations each.)

Upon the dawn, all of you feel renewed vigor - especially after your meeting with Aervir. The gatehouse, the east tower, the southern tower and the chapel all are there. Which do you wish to go to? (Or ask Aervir about.)
