A question about publishing

O. Hai.

At the comic book store the question has been raised by some of the creative writing majors what it "takes" (I.E. how do you go about) publishing something for D&D as a freelance person?

And now I'm curious too. What hopes does one jump through?

You don't want to start your own publishing company. I'd suggest posting fan-made stuff online for a while, getting feedback, getting a sense of what people like, before you try to sell anything for money. Also, if you have a bit of mild fame online, it's easier for you to go to a publisher and tell them, "Hey, I've got writing experience. Trust me to write something for you."

Hopefully you'll pick a publisher who'll make money.

I don't think they want to start a company. They're just some drunk creative writing majors that don't want to get sued.

Follow the Dragon Guidelines on Wizards website. From there, other gigs will open themselves up.
