A question for WoTC

I haven't seen much marketting myself. Or at least not here in the UK where game stores are rather thin on the ground. I just wish their efforts would include something more concrete on what 4e is all about, because all this speculation and half-information seems to be damaging things more than they should. People are divided, and something firmer on the game would clear a lot up.

I am not a marketing person, but I seem to recall reading about how there is a window of opportunity that they try to hit with a new product launch. Begin the marketing push too early and people stop paying attention by the time of launch. Begin too late and you get a slow start.

I think we are still in the "too early" period. When they release the 4e preview adventure in May, I think we will see the push begin in earnest. Well, maybe I won't see it depending upon where they do the pushing.

All the marketing is done online and by word of mouth. Its essentially free for Wotc, minus the cost of maintaining their website and those useless WoTc presents books. Myself and one player in my group of 7, discuss 4e in front of the other players. We always reference EN World/WotC designer releases and polls.

I've turned on more players than I have turned away with my talk.

...the big marketing push for game stores will likely come from Miniatures and post-D&D Xperience (which is in my home town of DC!!!!!!!!!!!!)
