a quick question

maybe the spell is heroism?

Heroism does not increase BAB.

The only spells I saw in the PHB that increase BAB are Divine Power and Tenser's Transformation, both of which increase your BAB to equal to your Character Level. Both are Personal range spells though, so couldn't be cast on anyone else.

I haven't gone through the other WotC books yet, and I don't have many 3rd party books. If you can't remember the spell's name, can you remember the source?

BAB is not usually the 1st number, as that number includes any bonuses or penalties you have to hit (str, magic, masterwork weapon, etc).

BAB is only derived from levels. Nothing that I know of increases your BAB except for leveling.

Correct, but that is what I was refering to since that was the number listed (not including adjustments).

BAB is only due to class levels, attack bonus is the one that includes all bonuses.

From the PHB

base attack bonus: An attack roll bonus derived from character class and level. Base attack bonuses increase at different rates for different character classes. A character gains a second attack when his or her base attack bonus reaches +6, a third with a base attack bonus of +11 or higher, and a fourth with a base attack bonus of +16 or higher. Base attack bonuses gained from different classes, such as when a character is a multiclass character, stack.

btw, how do you try to hit an invisible opponent?

Think low magic, or, better yet, no magic. When my party goes adventuring, we always make sure to carry a bag of flour. Whenever we are attacked by something unseen, we throw down a bag of flour to coat everything in the immediate area. Hard to stay invisible when you've got a white coating all over you, or you are tracking through the stuff. Hope this helps.

There is a spell which gives you medium BAB. It might be called "touch of the master". Also, Tenser's Transformation will give you a fighter's BAB but with lots and lots of restrictions, including the fact it is a personal spell.

Hummm....

Tensor's transformation would rock as a spell cast by a rogue from a scroll using UMD. A monk would like it a LOT too, but no UMD there.

He might have confused it with 3.0 Divine power. As far as I can rememeber, 3.0 divine power added some fraction of your caster level to your BAB. If your caster level was over your character level then you could end up with more then full BAB. But I could be remembering wrong.
