A shrieker sounds like...

Anyone have a good suggestion for the sound of a shrieker? Not looking for air raid sirens, car alarms, & fog horns. I've been considering sounds of a behive or Jamie Lee Curtis in Holloween.

Beehives don't "shriek" in any sense of the term. They hum.

How about the sound of a heavy freight train throwing on the brakes? Or nails on a chalkboard?

Are you looking for audioclips or just suggestions? I've always thought that shriekers sound like an extremely loud smoke detector that goes off at 5 AM, when I'm hungover.

Audioclips would be a bonus, but a unique description would be just fine. Just want to explore what ideas are out there.

The Wilhelm scream would probably go over well with the group.:p

edit: I'll add at the moment I'm thinking something like a bat call. For example

I always described the sound as very similar to the sound the pod people made in the 1979 Invasion of the Body Snatchers. (sp. the end with Donald Sutherland doing it) - I don't know why, but for as far back as I can recall that's what they sounded like.
