Ingot clanks forward, passing Jax as it charges the brute by the wall. Its fullblade swings in a brutal arc, dealing the brute a serious blow.

"Careful, Jax!" it calls back over its shoulder.

Dorn's eyes narrow, and his hair flashes the color of flame. He strides toward Jax, covering himself and the kobold in a protective shroud. A blast of lightning emerges from the obscuring darkness and strikes at the brute in front of Ingot before ricocheting into one of the guards.

On reading the power again it appears that you should also suffer from the -5 to attack rolls, I didn't see anything in the power that excludes you. This one still hits though even with the penalty.

Deep Shroud

You raise and then lower your hands, creating an obscuring shadow that cloaks you and the area around you.

Daily Arcane
Minor Action Personal

Effect: You create a shroud of supernatural shadow around you. Until the end of your next turn, the space you occupy and each square adjacent to you are heavily obscured.

Sustain Minor: The effect persists[/sblock]

Crag stomps over to the group of guards and strikes out with his longsword. He manages to bypass one of their defenses, but the blow is merely a grazing strike. Calling on Terra, Crag stomps on the ground, pelting the guards around him with bits of dirt and rock-- just enough to get their attention.

Meepo checked himself once over before the combat started. He patted his armor, made sure the shield is tied properly to his arm, an readied to unfurl his whip. "Hey guys, wait for me."

Oblivious to the risk, he ran to his kobold ally and cracked the his whip loudly over his head. "Come on, what are you, a man or a monster. Let's show these guys who they picked a fight with. You," he shouted towards Ingot, "bloody your blade once more."

"Right, careful! You can stay in front then!"

The dwarf on the wall is just watching Jax too closely, the kobold decides. The brute dead ahead is currently distracted by Ingot though, so Jax changes targets. He sprints toward the brute, taking advantage of Ingot's presence to mask his approach. He sidesteps the warforged at the last second and slams his dagger hard into the man, dropping him.

Ever quick on his feet, the kobold scurries behind Ingot after the attack, again using his warforged companions as living shields.

The dwarf calls out, "Get the metal-man!" pointing to Ingot, he leve;s his crossbow and takes aim at the warforged, but his crossbow picks the most inopportune time to jam. He spends a few moments repairing it.

The other guards see the troublesome time the others are having hitting the heavily plated Ingot and saw how quickly their leader was put down, they decide to focus on Crag, much to his delight.

As far as I know, only targets who are occupying heavily obscured squares get any kind of concealment. It doesn't seem to matter if you are in a heavily concealed square yourself and shooting at something not in a heavily obscured space. So no penalty at all for Dorn that I can see.

From the compendium:

Heavily Obscured: Squares of heavy foliage, heavy fog, or heavy smoke are heavily obscured.

Concealment: A target in a heavily obscured space but adjacent to you has concealment.

Total Concealment: A target in a heavily obscured space and not adjacent to you has total concealment.

Dorn has an encounter power that does 2d8+9 in a close burst one. Are you ok with my dropping it on Crag's head? :) It is a +6 vs ref and slows.

My bad...seems odd that there is some heavily obscured terrain between you and your target but it doesn't affect you. The wording of powers is definitely something of an issue in a lot of cases. Reason I brought it up is Cloud of Darkness, it specifically states you are immune to these effects. We'll go with the no-penalty as it's a really crappy daily power otherwise

Cloud of Darkness

A shroud of blackness descends around you, hiding you from sight.

Encounter
Minor Action Close burst 1

Effect: The burst creates a cloud of darkness that remains in place until the end of your next turn. The cloud blocks line of sight, squares within it are totally obscured, and creatures entirely within it are blinded until they exit. You are immune to these effects.[/sblock]

[sblock=No worries, R1]
I agree it is confusing.

The significant difference is that Cloud of Darkness explicitly states that it blocks line of sight, whereas Deep Shroud does not.

[sblock=R1]Is it possible to get onto the wall from J11 to J12? Or is the scaffolding providing any other easy way up?

Also, did you catch the 4 damage on guard 45 from the lightning bolt? I'm just wondering if they're minions, lol. If they are, I'll probably let Dorn take care of them.[/sblock]

[sblock=ooc]
I did catch that damage and they're not minions.
You don't see any easier way up the wall, it's a rough surface so DC 20 to climb.[/sblock]

Even Jax is a little surprised at how fast the big man fell. What a wuss. He turns his attention to Crag, who is now surrounded by hostiles. Jax skirts around the reach of the men to get behind one of them. With the guard so distracted by Crag, it's easy for Jax to pinpoint the thinnest part of the hide armor at the waistline and stab into the small of the man's back.

Jax's blade cuts a supporting strap of the armor, causing it to shift lopsidedly onto one side. The guard is vulnerable, at least for a few seconds until he can readjust his armor.

[sblock=Get your bonus damage]Until the start of Jax's next turn, the next ally who hits Guard 23 and has combat advantage against it deals 2d8+3 extra damage.[/sblock][sblock=actions/stats]Move: walk to H5 (via L7, K6, J5, I4, H5).

[sblock=ooc]Do we still have no one with forced movement to get the dwarf off the wall? That seems to be our achilles heel, just get up on a wall and we can't do much about it. :(

I'm considering going after the gnome, will post a move later tonight...[/sblock]
