a simple way to explain why Supers sometimes gain overpowers then lose them

Ich bin El Glouglou :)
so, you've got six stats, from 1 to 10;
say these stats are 1,2,4,5,5,7
two cases:
either, stats are of different values and you add them,
or stats are of equal values, in case of they multiply one with the other(s)
from the example above you get 1+2+3+5x5+7 ===> 38
( call them power points )
then, because you have a good assemblage of 5x5 you will stick to that association;
you could even climb up ( with time giving hint ) from 1+2+3+5x5+7 to 1+2+4+5x5+7, then to 1+2+5x5x5+7 ( this totals 135 ! )
let me use the Dark Phoenix saga to explain things a bit :
1+5+9x9x9x9 ===> 6567 !
actually , Phoenix should have stats like 2+5+9+10x10x10 ===> 1.016
next move could give her a fourth 10 ( that means approximately 10x10x10x10 ===> 10.000 ( plus 2+5 for a neat 10.007 power points yup ! )

if so, I can give other datas ( like the use of BASE , with BASE 9 topping at stat1 x stat2 = 36 ( in case of 9x9 ) , while BASE 10 capping at stat1 x stat2 = 42 ( in case of 10x10 )

with a hope not to be too much schizo :)
