A Sore Thumb: Ways for a Chinese girl to stand out?

You could make her exceedingly tall (even by western standards) perhaps 6'?

or you could give her a skin condition - really bad facial excema (so it can be cleared up by the application of a secret snake oil remedy revealing just how beautiful she really is:O)

What kind of campaign is this, BTW?

Behind the Veil is The_Universe's newest game - hopefully we'll be playing our first adventure this weekend! :D

Here's a the intro - as given by the DM himself:

We'll be using a combination of D20 Modern, Sidewinder: Recoiled, Grim Tales, Darwin's World, and D20 Past to help set the framework of this new campaign. The latter half of the 19th century was a strange confluence of the old and new worlds. Europe played out some of the last of their border wars while spreading colonies across the globe. Americans pursued their manifest destiny with an unbridled passion, and tamed an untamed continent in the process. By the end of the era, the world had become something that we could recognize as our own. But it took many brave, rough men and women to make it so.

With Victoria of England passed the last of many ancient traditions, and her death marks the birth of a recognizably modern earth. This is the era upon which we will focus. A time of war, sorrow, and heroism; a time of wilderness and civilization - a time of the last true frontiers.

But not all the wars made it into the history books. Some were fought on battlefields that few men will ever see. There is a world behind the world, and this will be part of our story, as well. Come with me, and make sure that old Colt Navy is loaded. There are things man was not meant to know. Kill them.

Sounds like Old West Horror, just as I suspected.

I'd try to make her stand out personality-wise. Give her some interesting quirks - maybe she's somehow become a fan of that new-fangled sport, baseball. A chinese acrobat with a baseball cap and a glove stuck in her luggage. Give her an unusual hobby - maybe she became the handyman in the circus because everyone else was all thumbs when it came to mechanical stuff.

Here's the problem: she needs to stick out based on being seen in a single performance. One of the other PCs needs to have seen her perform and - from the one performance - be able to remember her a year or two later.

But - she'll have plenty of personality quirks. She's an angry little woman. :)

It's going to be great fun... don't know how long we'll actually stay in the "Old West," though... first adventure will be there - but lord only knows where we're going from there! :D

I love my DM!! (and not just b/c he's my husband!)

I second the height idea. Physical height seems like it would be an unusual attribute for either a tumbler or a chinese girl -- so the combination would be particularly memorable.

Great setting! Have fun!

Carl

Have one of the other performers attack her in jealousy during a performance, and she runs for cover near the party.

Maybe she's very confident of her skills, and performs using only one hand, holding a pulp Western paperback book in the other hand, reading as she tumbles. Maybe give her glasses.

She could have a snake tail instead of legs. And six arms. Combine that with the big breasts, red hair, green eyes, and Portuguese accent, and I think you've got something.

That's it - from now on, all demons in my game will speak Portuguese.
