A Sound of Thunder (Bradbury) movie trailer

It looked interesting enough that I'll go see it. It seems like a classic way to pad out a short to-the-point short story into two hours of movie, but in a fun way.

I agree, and it seems like a pretty good approach. I'd rather they be willing to diverge from the story as needed -- heck, just use it as an idea and stay true to some of the themes, changing everything else -- than pad the original in other ways to make it longer. Looks like they went away from the political elements entirely, which also seems like a good choice. I'm suitably intrigued. :)

I would call it continued, not padded out. When I first saw the thread I thought "How could a story that short and straightforward make a good film?" (twilight zone/outer limits show, sure, but feature film?) The best answer that came to mind was "use it as a starting point to a film about surviving/fixing the consequences." Checked out the trailer and there it was. A MUCH better plan IMHO than trying to take the section of the story that is given and throw in enough extraneous love interests, extended chase scenes, mechanical breakdowns et al to push the big ambigous finisher off for 2 1/2 hours.

It seems that the most serious departure from the story as written is that we don't get the final "sound of thunder" that the story is actually named for. Guess the screwup gets to redeem himself instead. :uhoh:

I like the "time quakes" past catching up and changing the present before our eyes motif. And I'm always up for some fun "evolutionary path not taken" FX, so I'll definitly be seeing it.
