A tool to aid in monster creation

I don't know why, but the numbers seem off whenever I put in the level/role and ability scores of a monster. Usually it's the defenses that are off by a few.

Here, I'll give you an example.

Hobgoblin Warcaster (MM 140) Level 3 Controller (leader)
AC 17 Fort 13 Ref 15 Will 14

Your system: Level 3 Controller
AC: 17 Fortitude: 15 Reflex: 17 Will: 16

Grick (MM 145) Level 7 Brute
AC 19 Fort 19 Ref 14 Will 15

Your system: Level 7 Brute
AC: 19 Fortitude: 20 Reflex: 18 Will: 18

For each of those, I put in the ability scores corresponding with the entry in the MM.

The generator will almost never match the stats given in the book exactly, because the stats given in the MM weren't made strictly by the formulas given in the book which this program reproduces, they are tweaked up and down for no reasons given (presumably balance and/or flavor). So, the generator works fine, I haven't been able to find any errors yet in the formulas it produces, it's simply a tool to help you create your own monsters, not a tool for checking WoTCs work. :D

Well, that's not anything I can fix. My program uses the tables and rules presented in the DMG, and the stuff in the monster manual strays (in some cases, pretty wildly) from those rules.

In any case, none of the numbers are written in stone. They're only meant to be guidelines.
