If I read the PrC correctly [see Class Abilities, p. 46], I suspect you gain the "normal" HD for your former class. I.e., if you were a 1st-level barbarian taking a level in the Aberrant Paragon PrC you'd gain one d12 as HD.

Well, that isn't stated either anywhere in the class description. It only says that you gain certain benefits depending on your class but nothing about HD. But it's a good point.
