So . . .
Yesterday I took three kids, a friend, and myself up to my FLGS and I plopped down $160 (for four of the five of us) to play in the pre-release tournament.
We each got a starter and a booster; we each made a 100-point quick strike warband; and then we all played for about 5 hours.
In the end, one of my kids took 1st place, I took 3rd, my other two kids took 5th and 6th, and my friend won a prize for "best sport" (he won six huge uncommons).
Since I paid for all my kids to enter, and since we all pool our minis anyway, I ended up with 14 boosters and 4 starters.
There are some nice minis in this set. The two yuan-ti are very nice, the sahuagin (which I rarely use, but apparently may have to find reason to use) are excellent. The ice troll is cool, and the hook horror--as a playable mini--is a real pain to have to fight against.
