About sepll durations

Any one ever put spell durations into more abstact terms like exalted does? Liek for a scene(ebcounter) story(adventure) and the likes?

How about allowing casters to conentrate on their spells to keep them going beyond the normal duration. Like must spend move action to sustain and then any ctoin requires concentration DC+15+spell level. Hows that sound? or make it a free action but increase DC to 20 plus spell level?

I don't think people deviate much from the standard units of measurement. I suggested something similar in this thread and got no response. It was more focused on abilities that could be used x times per time unit. (I was primarily suggesting changing something from x times per week to x times per game session)

For spell durations that sounds like a decent idea. 1 rnd/level would be good for per scene/encounter but 1 min/lvl and 10 mins per lvl both have the potential to last a few encounters. And there are very few spells that I can think of that would justify the story/adventure duration :/
