It is starting to look like D&D Next is going to be the name of 5e. Am I the only one who thinks this name sounds awful? I mean it is just a name, so it won't impact my enjoyment of the game. Jude seems like an inelegant choice.

I guess "Next" is a sort of placeholder for 5E but I suppose that becomes problematic when it becomes D&D Now and once 6E gets into development as it eventually will. 5E will probably just say Dungeons & Dragons on the cover as Wormwood astutely observes.

No, they won't call it that. Probably just Dungeons & Dragons. Maybe, possibly, with the 5e moniker, but i don't think the designers want even that.

D&DNext sounds like an OS upgrade, and i think the last thing they want is comparison to computer software.

should it be moved or merged? it kinda is appropriate in the 5e forum too as it pertains directly to the new edition. but your call.

They can call it whatever they want but it will always be 5th edition, and that's what virtually all D&D fans will call it. Because it will be the 5th edition.

That's why I can't help but laugh when the designers suggest they want to do away with the numbered editions and "just call it Dungeons & Dragons".

Do they really not get it? It won't be 5th edition because they decide to call it that; it will be 5th edition because THERE WERE FOUR PREVIOUS EDITIONS.
