Abyssal Genasi

You are aware that Linkin Park and Black Clothing does not emo make, right?
Actually, this means someone listens to untalented hacks who try to rap about sucking fried chicken through a crazy straw (5 points for song title)and is either color blind or needs garanimals to dress themselves in matching clothing. ;) Emo doesn't cover it. :p

It's an unwinnable argument on all sides.
Doesn't mean I can't rant about it.

I really dislike it being thrown around. Especially because it's derogatory, and being treated as a catch-all for anything the user doesn't like.

Just as "video-gamey" isn't accurate when used, as it is just a derogatory catch-all buzzword, I'm aware pointing it out doesn't help. But I can still complain when I see someone make the comment, because by god I don't want it to go uncontested.

This is making me think about a world where the PCs are Genasi, you've got the quasi-elementals as other groups within, and your enemy are all divine. Not just the typical evil divine, but all gods are seeking destruction... and your party is standing up for a more pure form of creation not placed in the hand of some gods. Sort of a revolutionary elemental form against an Imperial Divine army. Debase the "traditional" races into mindless flat creations (derived from the perfection the gods saw in the Genasi) that are simply pawns for the gods compared to the dynamic and exciting elemental races.

Would be fun creating cool elemental worlds while taking the traditional gods and figuring out ways to make them antagonistic. Also could lead to some fun god alliances you wouldn't see as frequently in other games as Pelor and Bane and Bahamut and Tiamat might have reasons to form (if rocky) alliances.

Sorry for the derail, but see what neat articles can prompt?

I think immunity to attacks for a round is incredibly powerful! I mean, the closest equivalent is the Scarab of Invulnerability, which makes you immune to damage for a round - as a level 30 item's daily power. Admittedly, the Voidsoul can't do anything during that time as well, but if they aren't worried about taking OAs or Immediate Actions, then they aren't really losing anything. That also prevents most of the abuses of using it as a Defender.

But they actually disappear, so it's not like a monster wastes a turn firing some uber-attack at it and it gets absorbed; the Voidsoul actually vanishes entirely and then reappears the next turn. It's not that great, because it basically lets you pull aggro and let your companions bear the brunt; if you're a Griefer then you go and charge the big nasty monster, use that power and let it wail on your allies for a round because the thing that hit it (i.e. you) is no longer there to get hit.

No, I find it cheap for a Paladin to hide from someone he called down a divine "Let's step outside and duke it out mono-e-mono". It's appropriate for a rogue or someone equally craven, but not a PALADIN.
4E, dude. Paladins aren't required to be lawful stupid anymore. A Paladin of treachery, deceit, destruction, unbeing et cetera wouldn't have any problem with it, and it could be a major part of their mechanical hook.

Paladins aren't required ... A Paladin of treachery
Those two are fairly far from one another. It's funny you say "Lawful stupid isn't required" and then jump immediately to a NE Paladin.

In fact, I'd say that a paladin of treachery and deceit isn't going to be in a gaming group, because treachery and deceit pretty much means you're not going to play nice with your fellow PCs, and get killed quick or implode the group.

And regardless of if it's legal by RAW, or that it fits an NE/CE Paladin, I can still feel however I want to about it.
