Some races or talents allow you to reroll a d20 roll for a specific skill or skill use.
So yes, you might roll 2d20, but you use only the roll of one d20.
The question might be: How often do you get such rerolls? At what point does it turn into the Shadowrun or Storyteller "buckets of dice" systems? (Which I personally don't find bad). As long as it doesn't turn it into the "Das Schwarze Auge"s "roll three times against the DC and hope you don' fail to much..."
