According to my calendar, the end of the first week of August is in 2 days.

Do you think WotC will delay the results again?

I agree - generally, when they say the 'first week' it's meant as the 'first full week' not whatever odds and ends days are left at the end of a week when the old month is over.

Besides, the end of the first full week also coincides with GenCon. I can't think of better timing.

I know that I wasn't expecting any announcement until next weekend. Anyway, I don't think they'd announce anything at GenCon. Remember, the next round will be blind as well, so they want to remain objective on the top ten. And even saying what the settings are that made it past the first round could possibly influence the creators as well.

And the winner is...

Even after finding out how many submissions they had, WotC still said they planned to contact everyone seperately, so no, I don't think they'll be any big public announcement either.

I don't beleive the second round is going to be blind. However they are not going to announce the names in public if the winners wish to announce this that is their right but WoTC won't be denying them their privacy.

I don't necessarily think that anything would be publically announced during GenCon, except "we've notified the next 10," but there has to be an asthetic reason for chosing GenCon weekend. It's not like they didn't know it was happening then. ;)

I mean, I would think that if the timing didn't matter, they would have given themselves the entire summer to do it.

I'm pretty sure I remember reading that Anthony said the next round will also be run blind...but I could be mistaken.

I think they might delay, but I think they'll say something at or around GenCon it's far too big an event for them to let it pass without remark. However I, like most others, expect it to be some sort of general remark rather than any sort of specific reading of names or even any information at all about whoe made it to the second round.
