Action Figure Party

Actually, the elf was initially named Melf, but they changed it (not sure why, we got him before they changed the name).

I played through Quest for the Heartstone, and I seem to recall enjoying it.

Ringlerun the wizard also showed up on the late cover of the PHB

And Warduke was feature in one of the D&D cartoon episodes, where he captured Dungeon Master! Warduke is also the only one who made a return in Dungeon magazine (as a solo 20th level fighter opponent) sometime during 3E. He also has a D&D plastic mini modeled on him.

That is, indeed, the very PHB that I have to this day. I often wondered if that was supposed to be Kelek on the cover of the 2e DMG.

Kelek and Strongheart also made appearances in the cartoon... ;)

Kelek rode/commanded a pack of wolves and was hunting/collecting unicorn horns to increase his power to take out Venger.

Strongheart...he had a golden hammer instead of a sword...buuuut I forget what the storyline was. Something with busting out of a prison?...gods that was a lot of years ago.

Anyway, good times. Good stuff.

Here's a quick pdf with those statted characters. Enjoy!

To be honest, I like the 1st round of character images in there better than most of the modern WAR / Lockwood characters.

Those would be:
Paraley/Melf the elf
Elkhorn the dwarf
Strongheart the paladin
Warduke the fighter
Mercion the cleric
Zaray the half-orc assassin

Grimsword, Deeth and the others (those without the artist name next to them) aren't of the same level of quality.

steeldragons - I forgot about Kelek and Strongheart showing up in the D&D cartoon! And I too, always wondered which of the LJN action figures the image on the DMG was supposed to represent :)

<SNIP>
I think it had something to do with the spell Melf's Acid Arrow... It was the only character in the LJN line that shared a name with the "classic" AD&D NPCs, so they changed it.
