Action Points

I used the BESM d20 system to determine the point value of the various D&D classes and reintroduced the missing weapon and shield proficiencies (I counted all marital weapons as 33 points) to determine an action point schedule for the various core classes and came up with the following action point schedule (vs. the flat 5 + 1/2 level of Eberron):

Character Class Action Point Base
Barbarian 3 + 1/2 levels
Bard 6 + 1/2 levels
Cleric 5 + 1/2 levels
Expert 5 + 1/2 levels
Fighter 5 + 1/2 levels
Monk 4 + 1/2 levels
Noble 4 + 1/2 levels
Paladin 5 + 1/2 levels
Ranger 3 + 1/2 levels
Rogue 6 + 1/2 levels
Sorceror 5 + 1/2 levels
Wizard 6 + 1/2 levels
Prestige Class 2 + 1/2 levels

The Prestige Class is just a blanket value, I will freely reduce it to 1 or 0 + 1/2 level for powerful (Cough*Frenzied Beserker*Cough) prestige classes. I use the rules from Unearthed Arcana with some modifications.

Umm... okay. Nice number crunching and all, but... why? Are some classes inherently less heroic than others? Is there any flavorful reason some classes can perform the sorts of things associated with action points more often than others?

Nope

Nope, its just straight up number crunching. Sorry, the Expert and Noble are homemade classes in my game. The Bard and the Rogue would have good reason to have a high number of action points because they are supposed to be seat of the pants classes. As for the rest I can't really think of anything right now. It would be a reason that Sorcerors would want to stay in the class for more than just the number of levels required to get a cool prestige class.
