Reynard
aka Ian Eller
I have been waiting to see when the advertising for 4E would start outside of the web and the first one I spotted is in the new isue of WIRED that landed in my mailbox this morning. It is illustrated with a picture of a fire giant and a couple of hell hounds with the tag line "These guys spent the last three years getting ready for their next fight." The ad is obviously aimed at the existing player base, with the following text: "In the name of making up 4th edition, we've offered up countless of our own characters for use as punching bags and chew toys. Now it's your turn. So, be ready to throw down when you pick up all three Core Rulebooks. You know where to get 'em." The ad emphasizes the combat element of the game and with "you know where to get 'em" and not evening naming the Core Rulebooks, it definitely assumes the reader is familiar with D&D. It does state the street date and there's a mention of dndinsider.com, plus three tiny, tiny pics of the corebooks.
