[Adamant Entertainment] Far West Design Journal

Gareth, do you have an ballpark ETA for this game? Just curious.

Not yet, to be honest. I'm still in playtesting.

So far no major issues have presented themselves (one of the benefits of basing on an existing set of rules), so I expect that we'll move to production sooner rather than later.

The rules read like a FATE version of L5R to me. Which is fine with me.

The setting reads to be pretty darn cool, so I'll be keeping track of this.

BTW, are you going to be able to contract art work to compete with Qin: Warring States and L5R 3E?

Not that I am big on art, but the art for thsoe two books is exceptionally impressive, especially Qin. So I want to know if I can hope to see similiarly gorgeous stuff for this product.

I wholeheartedly agree with you on the impressiveness of Qin.

Yes, artwork is going to play a big part of getting the feel across. I'm actually planning on a future design journal entry on this topic, with some in-progess samples.

We don't have the budget to do full-color interiors, but we're shooting for "the pretty", nonetheless.

So. Freakin'. Cool.

I liked "And Justice rides with me" but I couldn't help think of "And Hell's coming with me!" Maybe the variant of an ex-Ranger, out for revenge . . . just thinking of how I'm going to be playing with this.

Question: Will this be PDF or will there be a print version as well?

Man, I am jazzed for this. I don't usually get all fanboy, but I think this product really strikes a chord--it's got wuxia, Firefly, and Sergio Leone westerns all in the mix. I love the genre mash (perhaps fitting for a huge fan of "Brotherhood of the Wolf").

Thanks so much for this, Gareth.

...which is exactly what I was thinking of when I wrote it. Good catch.

Both. Also considering whether to have it available through traditional distribution to game stores, or keep it a "boutique" item, available directly from Adamant. Haven't decided yet.

Thank you for the interest! Without folks like you, I'm just talking to myself!
