In the old tv show from the 60s Thing was a whole arm in a box. It made me think he actually had a whole body but was stuck in transdimensional box. Picture this, you enchant a small box with a permanent Magnificent Mansion spell, then shrink someone with Reduce and drop them inside the box. When they return to normal size inside the box, they are too big to fit through it so they cannot get out. So they have to live in the Mansion the rest of their lives. They can reach an arm out of the box, maybe their head, but their shoulders won't pass through the hole. They are stuck in a lavish prison forever...

Lurch is probably a goliath (or flesh golem/shield guardian), but not sure on class. I think it'd be fun to have him be an Avenger Paladin, throwing out smites with his fists if he ever got in combat.

i like it! And being poisoned by his sister that often must make him pretty tough!

My wife has suggested that he may instead be Wednesday's familiar. This explains why he seems to be killed by her offscreen every episode.
