Do you believe "moralizing" about art is a recent development?
Of course not, and it never works because nobody likes a scold! (Except a scold who agrees with you—scolds on the other side are obviously the worst.) So it’s counterproductive and inevitably produces a backlash. But! The backlash only proves how corrupt/unjust society is, so the scolding intensifies. The scolding must continue until behavior improves!

It doesn’t matter which side of the cultural spectrum the moralizing is coming from, the effect is the same.

If you want moralizing from a different direction, a friend who draws porn rolled their eyes the hardest at this art.
I mean, it’s not good! I don’t care for the real Frazetta, so it’s fair to say this isn’t my favorite. But that’s not moralizing—your pornographer friend probably just has good taste.

You are only a slave to the algorithm if that is all you use as a metric for success. Fear and Anger just “sell” better and social media in general rewards it.

For myself, the best creators are the ones that have a point of view on the things they love, let you see their creative process, and produce consistent quality content. It is telling that the vast majority of those I follow are using Patreon and/or crowdfunding as the primary means of income for their work. A few have day jobs that pay the bills.

For me, the short list are: Matt Coville, Dadi from Mystic Arts, Mike from Sly Flourish, Teos and Shawn from Mastering Dungeons, Todd Kenreck (WotC firing him was bad call), and Ben, Dael, and their guests on Eldritch Lorecast (Ghost Fire Gaming). I listen to the ENworld Podcast when I can remember to.

I am really hoping that AI bull hockey doesn’t invade and swamp the TTRPG space like it has History YouTube vids. But that is another kettle of fish.

Professor DM was the dude who stanned Elon Musk and defended Gary Gygax's comments about sexism and in-game rape, so besides the factual inaccuracy he's not a guy who I'd vibe with in terms of overall values.

Edit: Relatedly, he gave a positive review of 5e: HARDCORE MODE, which is actually quite godawful. The only people I've seen give that sourcebook positive reviews are ones that...aren't being honest or don't actually cover what is in the rulebook.
Oh, jeez, that's worse.

Since youtube channels are getting named here, I've recently come across Zach the Bold. He doesn't seem to do click bate, and seems to actually enjoy DND as a system.
Zack is good. Too much for me sometimes, but always actually focused on the game.

Bothsidesism, really?

Lol no. Pointing out blatant sexism in art is not the same as banning books because they have homosexual characters.

Of course! There is only Sin and Righteousness! Keep scolding and eventually everyone will see the light. What’s the worst that could happen?
