Addicted to DND Miniatures

First Post
I think I have a problem. I'm addicted to buying DND Minis. :\

At least the ones that are going to be discontinued soon like the Harbinger Booster Packs and the Dragoneye Series.

In the past 2 weeks, my girlfriend and I have already spent $80 on Minis. To some of you, that may not seem like a lot of money, but to us, that's a lot of money to spend in 2 weeks on a hobby. What's worse, is that although my girlfriend enjoys Minis and DND in general, I sometimes think I "convince" her into buying the Minis.

This whole idea that the Harbinger Boosters and Dragoneye series are going to be discontinued has gotten to me, so now I find myself buying them whenever I run accross them. Out comes the Credit Card. :\

Anyone have any advice or suggestions on why I shouldn't worry about the Harbringer Boosters of Dragoneye series being discontinued?

I think I'm developing that same addiction. I've found myself exhibiting similar behaviour recently. Just ordered a case of Archfiends on the ol' credit card. Planning to do likewise for Giants of Legend and would easily do so for Harbinger and Dragoneye if I thought I could afford it.

I guess I'll be selling lots of extras on Ebay soon.

Don't know why I'm going so nuts for them. Like'em, but spending like this isn't healthy.

Funny you should bring this up. Just a few days ago I dropped some $500 dollars on miniatures. $200 of it was my first archfiends purchase, and about $80 was the last of my dragoneyes being filled in.
Can't believe my wife went for it. Heh.
And of course the last was for harbinger packs.

Tough love answer: Quit being a wussy and excersize some self control! Sheesh, what the hell is wrong with you? Cut up your credit cards and let your woman have the check book if your to weak to stop driving past the hobby store. :D

I've blown about $300 on minis off Ebay in the past month or so. I've managed to stop for the time being as I'm waiting for them all to arrive before I purchase any more. I buy in bulk (i.e. I have 32 draconians and 23 hobgoblins) moreso than for individual minis. I used to buy anything that was a deal but now I'm trying to stick with stuff that I'll use and have a need for.

Not that I'm following my own advice, but what others have done that seems to help is sell the excess ones you have to recoup some of the funds you've expended. You can also trade as mentioned above, but that can be even more expensive depending on shipping costs.

I tend to limit myself to one pack a week. I buy too many books and comics to be able to go full bore into the minis, though I love using them and with a few touch ups here and there thems some damn fine minis... prefer Reaper still, but thems pricey.

Hooked on Minis

Not only have I dropped way too much money on minis this year, I've become hooked on ebay at the same time. Thanks to Meepo the Mighty, I also found out about maxminis.com. I've completed 1 trade successfully through that service and 1 is pending. Getting one box with 3 missing rares in it is pretty good!

That has been satisfying, but ebay has been more fun! By selling off my duplicate umber hulks, I've managed to finance about 2 months worth of purchases. I've finished my Dragoneye set and now have to find a displacer beast to complete Harbinger. For archfiends, I bought 6 boxes at my LGS (my FLGS doesn't stock them... the F is falling) and have ordered 3 through ebay. With any luck, I'll finish that set off soon as well.

Ebay is also good for getting filler minis. I managed to add 6 kobolds to an order for no extra cost, and another time it was 6 Snigs for $0.39 with no added shipping. It pays to look around!
