Adding Mythos books to D&D

That's a good idea. I know that Chaosium has 'em but there may be others.

And the librarian steps up to the plate...

An H.P. Lovecraft Encyclopedia by S.T. Joshi & David E. Schultz

A bit on the pricey side, but a great reference book. I had the library order one for the collection, I can't afford one for myself (yet).

Encyclopedia Cthulhiana: A Guide to Lovecraftian Horror by Daniel Harms
http://tinyurl.com/4wyc6
Published by Chaosium, but OOP right now. Some stores have it, some don't. Check around various online booksellers and RPG shops, you'll find it eventually. FRPGames had it in stock for a long time, and then I went and bought a copy a few weeks ago to replace one I lost, now it's out of stock there.

Necronomicon Files: The Truth Behind Lovecraft's Legend by Daniel Harms & John Wisdom Gonce III
http://tinyurl.com/6h9ym
Excellent book on the history of the Necronomicon, the real life books it is based upon and supposedly referenced in, conspiracies, the hoaxes that have sprung up around it, and much more. Written in two parts, one a mythos view of it, one a religeous/spiritual view. Lots of excellent ideas in it, you can get tons of ideas on how to bring a mythos book into a game from reading this volume.

I may have to pick up one of the Chaosium Cthulhu Encylopedias just so I have a better grasp of all the various book titles out there.

Joe, I believe one of the used book shops near me has a copy of the older, smaller, first edition of Chaosium's Encyclopedia Cthulhiana in the store now (at least, they did a week or two ago).

If they still have it, do you want me to pick it up for you? I think it was $7-8 dollars. Email me (rjmiller_at_gmail_dot_com)
