So, let me get this straight...

One of your players has made a character that he is proud of and looking forward to play as and the only thing you are focusing on is how to prove him wrong?

To me that sounds like a recipe for disaster.

As a DM you should be focusing on enabling your players, make them feel awesome and making sure they have a good, fun time. I would play as normal and IF there seems to be troubles with the Dream Druid, talk it out and fix the problems together. Don't abuse your DM powers to teach him a lesson for playing the game the way he wants to. Find a middleground where the game satisfies you both.

Yes. They are so cute when they are young.

The cure for an indestructable character (whether true or not) is an escort quest.

But seriously folks....

GMs are supposed to be champions of characters. If a player has made an almost unkillable character then we should be giving them a chance to shine by throwing massive number of attackers at them, cheering them on when they overcome wave after wave.

We need to give them situations where characters are weak *as well as* situations when they are strong.

I must agree with everyone in this discussion who said it would be unfair for the DM to deliberately take down this PC.

Have one of the other Player Characters do it instead.

I'll join the chorus - as a DM I've had players say things like this to me in the past. I just let them play their ultimate character and as it looks like things are too easy for the group I ramp up the challenges. Typically I've found that my players over the years have tended to be wrong about these things and actually aren't nearly as indestructible as they think they are.

Of course these days my players are the furthest thing from powergamers imaginable, so none of them ever say anything like that. If anything they're the opposite.
