I guess when I flipped through it, I saw it as more of an ELH, than an UA. I don't really have any need for an ELH at this point. Theoretically, my party is going to advance to 20th, and then the campaign will end. I guess they might all have so much fun that we'll want to pursue levels above 20, but I don't really see that happening.

I have Unearthed Arcana (received it as a gift), and I really didn't go through it very thoroughly yet. So until I do, I really can't make a comparison. I usually like the SSS stuff, so I would not be suprised if it was very good.

But to have both of them would seem overwhelming.

I loved the thing. The options in it are much more in the line of what I want than UA had. Unfortunatly I have no internet access right now so I will have to write a full review at home and cut/paste it in here tomorrow.

I am not enthusiasted about UA. Sure there are some good ideas (in the classes especially), but I don't feel it is a must-have.I guess I will feel the same about APG. I must admit it seems well-done and high-quality, but I haven't read it yet.

I flipped through it at my store and wasn't very impressed. There are a lot of little bits and rules adjustments, but nothing that make me say "Cool" like Unearthed Arcana did. It really just came across as a group of designers who were told "Hey, we want you to come up with a new initiative system, new epic system, new critical hits/fumbles, charcter advantages/disadvantages, etc.". A lot of what I read there I found myself asking, "why?" especially with the initiative variants. The critical hits system is okay, but I am very biased in my judgement of that for obvious reasons. ;)
