I was wondering what the advantage of manyshot verses rapid shoot they both seem to read the same. Rapid shot is two arrows many shot is also 2 arrows but with more penalties but stackable. or do they combine for three arrows?

By the RAW, you can make a sneak-attack breaking invisibility and such with anyshot and get the bonus on each arrow. Rapid shot only lets you get the first one. (Via Errata)

The main advantage of Manyshot is that it can be used in a round when you need to take a move action. Maybe you need to move to get a clear shot. Maybe after shooting, you want to move to cover. Maybe you need a move action to ready your bow. Maybe you need to stand up from prone. If you do any of those things, you can't make a full attack, so Rapid Shot isn't available.

Which errata are those?

The Manyshot feat text states "Regardless of the number of arrows you fire, you apply precision-based damage only once." The PHB errata say nothing about the Manyshot feat.

Manyshot is a boost to 'shot on the run'.

How so? Shot on the Run requires you to take the attack action, and Manyshot is a standard action, which means you can't also take the attack action (itself a standard action) in the same round (unless, perhaps, you're a choker)...

I think most people run Manyshot as working with Shot on the Run.
I'm not saying whether that's right, as per RAW, or not. (Don't have books with me, and I'm probably biased in the archer's favor, anyways.)

Though, if it doesn't work, a lot of mobile archer builds get shafted.

You get precision damage with Improved or Greater Manyshot, don't remember which one it is offhand.

Edit: If you're a choker, why did you take Shot on the Run? Just move, shoot(manyshot or not), move or just move, full attack (w/ rapid shot).

I have argued black-and-blue with one of my players that he cannot combine RS & MS - he believes he sould be able to unleash multiple arrows with each of his bowshots in a round. I have presented him with ample evidence, both from here and elsewhere, that this is not possible, but he still thinks I am cheating him out of the way the feats are supposed to combine. :(

What's his opinion of the FAQ? :)

Can you use Many Shot in a full attack round if you don't want to make a move? Anotherwards, use it to get your lvl 6th double attack + 1 extra many shot attack? Or are you required to make a move to use the feat?

Many Shot is a standard action. You need not also take your Move Action (as move or otherwise). But, you cannot combine Many Shot with another standard action or any full round action.
