[Adventrue] Lord Ogglebottoms Odd Tasks II: The Mysterious Imlach Island

Martelai walks hugging the wall toward closest hole. He raises his insectoid rod and lights up the hole with bright shaft of starlight.

Gloom continue to advance getting ready to attack the first creature he can strike.

Gellan edges forward, every muscle tensed in anticipation of an attack.

A ear piercing sheik fills the cavern as Martelai's shaft of starlight begins to travel down the shaft before him, only to graze the back of the kruthik making its way towards him. The creature reaches the top of the shaft and quickly slashes at Martelai's leg with one of its jagged sharp fore-claws. The strike draws a line of blood on his leg, tearing his pants in the process.

At the sound of the shrill call, more kruthik emerge from the other vertical shafts in the floor. One of the creatures quickly engages Gellan, hitting him with a slash of its claw.

Gloom is quickly engaged as well, this one leading the way with its fore-claws swinging. Gloom sidesteps the blow and with an opening granted to him plunges his longsword into a crease in the creatures hard chitinous body.

The last of the visible creatures appears at the far end of the cavern. It's body shudders slightly and two jagged spikes fly outward, striking Gloom and Gellan. Their bodies immediately begin to feel the effects of the vile toxin coating the spikes as their limbs start to feel sluggish and unresponsive.

It would appear that the hive is willing and able to defend itself against unwanted intruders....

OK so as you may have guessed it is dark in here. There is no natural light source in here.
There are openings in the floor at H14, H19, I23 and L20 represented by the black 'circles'.
The floor of the cavern so far is fairly even so you can walk normally.
Oh, and although it does not show it, Hive guardian 2 is under Glooms Divine Sanction - I missed that when updating the map.

I just wanted to say sorry for the slow post rate as of late. A couple of weeks ago I received a promotion at work and my schedule since then has been very, very full. I am still checking in a few times every day but the amount of 'free' time I have right now to do daily updates just isn't there.
There have been a few occasions already where I am half way through an update when I get interrupted by work and have to leave it and usually loose any progress.
Still I hope to update as much as possible and most likely once I get my feet under me once again at work I will be able to find more 'free' time to get the updates moving faster.

Being attack, Gloom become berserk and swing twice madly at the Hive Guardian next to him with poor quality blow but with a lot of power.

"Pah, it is too dark in here!" cries Gellan as the beasts strike at him. "'Ware your eyes, all!" The tall one who had sold him the "sun-rods" promised they held the light of the sun itself. Time to find out if he spoke true. Easy enough to find him again, if he is false. And if I survive this fek'snash cave.

Thorn moves forward, eager to engage in battle. As he rounds the corner and leaps towards the sound of fighting, Thorn thrusts wildly into the darkness.

The beast in front of Thorn and Martelai launches forth a barrage of spikes. Martelai manages to duck out of the way but many of the spikes bite into Thorns exposed skin and immediately being seeping their venom into his system.

The beast near Gellan lunges forward and just manages to catch him with its jagged claw, and adding yet another scratch to the rugged halfling.

The two other creatures converge upon Gloom, both unable to penetrate the sturdy shifters defenses.

OOC: Did Gloom hit with Heedless Fury or not? just asking because it did hit AC 19 and you have the ac of hive guardian between >16 & <23 in the status block

Thanks Ozy - another good catch. Even though I proof read it I missed that typo. Yes, Gloom Missed so the Hive Guardians AC is higher than 19 but less than 23.
 

OOC: DMDanW, you didn't update Gellan's HP total after he took damage this round -- he should have 22 at this point.

"I will see what I can do!" cries Gellan. Taking his tan'gat in both hands, he dives and rolls over the rough stone floor, driving the point of his weapon deep into the side of the monster. It skitters backwards away from him, screeching in pain.

Standard: Attack HG2 with Pressing Strike, shifting to J-18 before the attack. Natural 20 for a critical hit, doing maximum damage plus extra 1d8=8 for High Crit, for a total of 15+8=23 damage.
