Maybe someone can Heal Sabynha and have her save again. I am okay with not having the effect of that failed save taking effect until everyone has completed their actions this round
OK, next thought is Rain uses Sabynha's healing word she'll have at least 16hp's, moves L5 and attacks Vine Horror. Other players try to fit in nature checks and and a heal check to shut the trees up. Big ask, lot's of saves required too.
Invisible Castle hated all of us in this fight so far.
Anyone have any further thoughts or comments? I've been rethinking options somewhat from earlier.
Nature skill checks on the Blackburr trees have to be made next to the pink lines (inside or outside will probably do).
Shandra's Heal is rated 6 and Nature is 8.
Wat's Heal is rated 5 and his Nature is also 5.
Zuri's Heal and Nature skills will be rated at 1. (Zuri making an attack seems preferable, but keeping in her in reserve for save attempts and such is an option. Moving to E4 (under the tree) and conducting later missile attacks from relative safety is an option.)
Rain's Heal and Nature skills are rated 0. (Rain is currently slowed, so making an attack on the Vine Horror makes sense, as does second wind.)
I now think Shandra should start, first of all moving to I6, then trying to use her standard action Heal on Sabynha to grant her a save isn't a bad idea (Wat will grant her a +2 save if this is done before hand). If it doesn't work, she could use action point to try again.
As a minor action, Shandra using her nature check on the northern blackburr isn't a bad idea. If the action point is still available, then using it for a standard action also isn't a bad plan (preference to action point standard action with Sabynha's Inspire Competence - allies get +2 on their next check to calm the trees, though using Inspire Competence on the minor will do at a pinch).
Sabynha may be making a save attempt at this point.
Wat can see what Shandra's round looks like before committing. If Shandra can get a sucessful save from Sabynha, then it frees up his options somewhat. Minor action attempts on the southern tree is an option without moving. Potential heal attampts on Sabynha can be considered with the standard action. More nature checks or blasting the Vine Horror (possibly using Divine Guidance power from Shandra) can be considered.
Sabynha may be making another save attempt at this point.
Zuri, we'll see. Likely attacking and then moving to E4, but desperate attempts to heal can't be ruled out. Could possibly attempt to heal before Wat tries, but not liley to succeed the healing skill roll.
Sabynha may be making another save attempt at this point.
Rain; slowed and likely to attack. Minor action, should use Sabynha's last heal. Possibly also use Divine Guidance from Shandra if available.
Thoughts? Comments? I realise Shandra's Shandra uses Loyal Sanction will go to waste with this turn order.
Anything you guys can do to keep Sabynha alive at this point is much appreciated. The other option is to just let the Vine Horror have it with both barrels and hope that it's possible to sort out my character later, and if not, you'd just better make good use of her last two gifts!
I feel like I didn't really pull my weight this encounter; sorry about that.
The trees don't attack until the end of one's turn. As such, Sabynha just needs to get outside of the tree's 4 square range to be safe. Since Sabynha is not next to the vine horror, her taking a double-move to get outside of the range of the trees would make the most sense to keep her safe. I think a more aggressive approach to end this combat quickly is best. Shandra does have an action point, but I think it best to use that to end the vine horror quickly if it is to be used at all. I would prefer that my last turn not be a complete waste by Wat not using Loyal Sanction, and besides, since the vine horror moved away from Shandra, she gains a +6 bonus to damage rolls against the vine horror until the end of her next turn, so two attacks by Shandra make more sense to me as that's an extra 12 damage (a not insignificant amount of bonus damage at this level), an extra 17 if Wat attacks and hits too (which is likely if he uses Shandra Divine Guidance).
@CrimsonFlameWielder - Sabynha was immobilized on her turn, and she failed to save against that, which is what got her further in trouble. I don't necessarily disagree that we could try to end this quickly, but my character could not move on her own or I would have seriously considered it.
Even if she ends up like Gray, there may be hope for her. Even if there isn't, both I and Sabynha would not want her Daily and her final heal to be wasted.
That said, if she dies I can always make another character. Can someone remind me or point me at the L4W rules for multiple characters please? I can't find them.
EDIT: nevermind! Found it! Working on backup character as I type...
Son of Meepo: If Shandra takes her turn before Wat, then the effects of Loyal Sanction will end before you can use it (since it ends at the end of her next turn). Are you going to give up that +5 bonus to damage against the vine horror and wait until Shandra has taken her turn?
jbear: Since PbP games don't tend to use strict initiative order for the players, would it be okay if the effect of Loyal Sanction applied for Wat until the end of HIS turn, instead of the end of Shandra's turn (so that even if Shandra were to post before Wat, the effects were still able to be applied on Wat's turn?
The problem is I'm not really sure what Wat should do. Tactically speaking, your plan is probably the best, but for rp reasons, Wat might be more concerned with Sabynha's well-being than the combat at the moment.
