(Adventure) Heroes of The Vesper Peaks (Uriel judging)

Marl hurries to catch up behind them, but does so quite quietly.

{OOC Sorry for not having checked on the thread in a long while - I honestly thought the game was dead. I have now subscribed to the thread so it won't happen again.

Creamsteak, could you roll for the second Cure light Wounds that was cast on Marl, please?}

Cure Light Wounds Roll:

[dice] + 1

"I guess we'll be going up then. Try to be silent." Jagos says, moving towards the upwards slope.

Grog follows Jagos as silently as he can.

Jaret ascends as stealthily as he can, following about 10 feet behind Grog and focusing more on the climb than on observing his surroundings.

Vanadan follows right behind Jaret.

Marl hurries to catch up behind them, but does so quite quietly.

Jaret, Grog, Vanadan, and Marl:
You hear a sound in the distance. It sounds like someone moaning, groaning, and howling; but it also seems that the sound must be both distant, and carried by the caverns. During one of the loudest calls (still faint to be heard but definitely there), the caverns seem to quiver a bit.

Everyone: The ground seems to tremble a bit as you reach the edge of the first edge of the incline. Kreepto speaks up to explain that this is the first upper level, and that this level is safe from the gas. Everyone can see that the supports (some of iron, some of stone, and most of wood) are in good condition.

Jaret & Marl:
You see something in the distance, at approximately eye level. All you can identify is that it has glimmering eyes that reflect the light of the two stationary hooded lanterns in the room.

Everyone: This room is 20 feet by 80 feet (long), stretching forwards from the entrance. There are two (almost empty) lanterns set along the left wall. They each emit 30 feet of light, which is good enough to see most of the room, save the last 5 feet on each end which is only dimly illuminated.

Marl pretends to stumble and exclaims "ow!" as if he'd stubbed his foot on a rock.

"Don't look now," he hisses at those who turn to look at him, "but there's someone in the shadows at the other end of the room."

(edit) And as he leans down to pretend to massage his foot, he'll put his crossbow on the ground, and after that pick up and load it, not as if he was in any particular hurry.

Vanadan nods slowly to Marl and prepares to use his crossbow but he will not try to reaload it yet. He takes few steps to the right staying beside the wall.

Jaret was about to point out the eyes to the rest of the group when Marl gave his warning. He thinks to himself, I have to learn to be more subtle. Marl obviously knows what he's doing, maybe if I watch him in action I can pick up a few tips.

Jaret grips his greataxe a little more firmly then continues forward toward the eyes, watching them for any sign of movement.

Jagos' hand closes on his rapier as he hears Marl's warning. Seeing no stealthier approach possible, he just keeps walking.

A few more steps into the light, and everyone can see the mottled figure of a man. His long unkempt brown hair is covered in mud and rock. His flesh has turned a bluish purple, and his arm appears to be broken (it's bent 180 degrees around). His eyes have turned blood red from irritation. Lastly, his clothes have rotted and been torn off in bits and pieces to the point where only part of his heavy overalls barely hang on.

It stands still, looking at everyone that has come in with a curious stare. The creature doesn't move at all, except to try and keep itself standing. Careful examination shows that perhaps his leg is injured as well.
