"What would you 'ave me do ma'am? 'Not like I woke up this mornin' and said 'let's kill me a good dragon that's married' or nothin'. I feel for yer loss, but ye haven't exactly been easy ta deal with yerself you know."

 

[Rystil Arden]

"Well, do you expect me to say 'Thank you for killing my husband and ruining my life. You are such a great hero and you're so dreamy, let me give you a kiss and all my worldly possessions?' "

 

[Bront]

"How 'bout at least being civil about it?" Cade says. He hands her the cup of water Thurgan brought. "I know appologies ain't gonna bring 'im back, but neither will all yer name callin' and sceamin' and killin' yerself and such either. So how 'bout ye calm down, we'll go down, get a bite ta eat, and talk like civilized humanoids?"

Thurgan wandered downstairs for a glass and a pitcher of water, bringing both up to the room for Cade. When he arrived he poured a glass and handed it to him, all without words . . . almost like he had used up his allotment of them for the moment.

"Yes, why don't we go downstairs instead of keeping me tied up like kidnappers?"

 

[Bront]

"You promise not to kill yourself?"

 

[Rystil Arden]

"Don't worry, I'm not even sure where you put my knife after Larue knocked me out..."

 

[Bront]

"That's not exactly a promise..."

 

[Rystil Arden]

"Well, I don't have a weapon, so I'm not going to stab myself--don't worry, I'm not stupid enough to try to use a kitchen knife or something. Just let me out."
