Brenwar and Shale's rolls are actually decent enough to translate the writing. Though, it will probably take a while. An extended rest will give you the time you need to sit down and translate them.

GM: I'm going to take a little break from posting until tomorrow, I think. I've got another D&D game I'm working on for tonight as well. Take that time to make sure you're all squared away with levels and everything. Tenchuu, if you want to blow some DM credits for another level, go ahead.

[sblock=Screw it. Here's the translated journal.]3rd of Feldspar, 128BM

That bastard. That miserable cur of an overseer has denied me my precious diamonds. I need diamonds for my secret project but why can't he see? I've toiled for months on my own working on his damn tomb and all I want are diamonds. I will go to his chambers tonight and he'd better have what I want, or else!

--

Well, I showed him! He didn't have my diamonds so I taught him a lesson. He told me I did shoddy work on his tomb and there weren't any diamonds for me anyway. So, I buried my pickaxe in his head. That bastard. I taught his wife a lesson too, and those damn kids. I took everything valuable from his chamber that I could carry. It was a fortune in coin, a magic staff, an orb and some magical clothing that his wife made for the Alarian ambassador that never came. I'll leave this damn fortress forever and live the rich dwarf's life in the Empire.

I didn't really think this through. I have no idea how I'm going to get out of here. For some reason the militia has ordered the gates sealed, and the Hall of Traps is... well... a deathtrap. Plus, the marksdwarves behind the arrow slits would shoot me down before I got halfway across the walkways. I can't go back to the miner's quarters because they're overrun with packs of hungry war dogs. I guess they've run out of cats to eat. I didn't think that was possible. My only hope is the access tunnel I've built into the late-overseer's tomb. No one alive knows about it except for me.

5th of Feldspar, 128BM

Damn! Why has Moradin forsaken me? As I was making my way to the tomb the entire second level suddenly became flooded. I had to run for my life and barely made it. Now my access tunnel is full of water and the swim back is impossible. I have no idea how that happened. I'll bet the morons in engineering overrode the floodgates in the farms and let the river into the whole second level. I swear a mandrill could do their job better. Now everything below level one is inaccessible. I wouldn't normally care, since I'm planning to leave, but I just now realize why they sealed the front gates. The entire valley outside is sea of lava. They must have flooded it on purpose. So here I am, stuck in the tomb. I would tunnel my way out, but I left my precious pickaxe in the overseer's skull. I guess I have to wait for the lava to cool before I can leave.

The lava isn't stopping. What could be out there? No food. The water tastes funny, probably chemicals from the mines are seeping in. I'm hungry.

Oh Moradin help me something in the tomb with me I don't know how it got in I've hidden in the sarcophagus until it goes away

I can't get the lid off the sarcophagus I can hear it out there hissing

I thought I was making the overseer's tomb but this was my tomb

OOC: So we suppose we're taking an extended rest, since we've translated the scrolls? I'm ok with that - I'm not the one who has to eat or drink

Shale examines at the horribly stretched skin on the dwarf's face, his teeth showing behind the dried flesh. "At least he died smiling" says.

"According to this document we can expect flooded levels, and defensive positions consisting of a trapped hall, hallways with arrow slits (though possibly unmanned by now) and roaming war dogs. There may or may not be diamonds."

"But since he seemed to be not entirely stable and what he described, based on the corpse's condition happened some time ago, this information may not be entirely accurate"

Karma while not speaking the correct language can also help translate..

OOC:
History Check
Roll Lookup 19+10 =29...

Levelled up, retrained one skill didn't work so well. Don't know how to add power templates onto the sheet though.. So need to add my feat power and utility.

GM: I'm just assuming you are going to take an extended rest at some point. It doesn't matter when. I've provided the translated journal for future reference.

Also, Karma's roll was amazing. So we can also assume he translated the pages right on the spot.

OOC: Understood. I think we're still in good shape - I've not even spent any long time resources at all, so I vote for continuing as soon we deal with character sheets and spend surges to heal up

OOC: Technically, we can't deal with the character sheets, unless we take an extended rest, right?

As long as I can level up, I'm solid either way, but FYI I am down to 4 healing surges if we take a short rest.
