Rystil Arden said:(Edit: OK, I'll put in something different this time: If someone is prone and a tripper doesn't have Combat Reflexes, you may want to ask if they want to waste an AoO on something like a grapple because I'll bet Juliana would have rather not made the AoO for the grapple, so she could be ready to make a tripping AoO while Longtooth was rising to knock him down again.)

Though a grappler loses Dex to AC versus others, so while he grappled Juliana, he would be even easier to hit for the other folks, and he wouldn't be able to use his giant deadly guisarme.

OOC: FYI, I'm fine with attacking on the grapple, particulary because Huln and vargo are around. Btw, I will try to take a 5 foot step if needed to get a flank on Longtooth. Also, if I am able to trip Longtooth, I would like to draw the arrow in my off hand (I should be able to grab it if I forgo my shield defense). I believe I can attack with the arrow as a make shift melee weapon (If I can't give me a chance to change my action then please).two said:
[SBlock] Well I had to make the call. All LongTooth had to do was make a touch AC attack at -4. Odds were good that would happen. And once he's grappling, the -4 "to hit" penalty vanishes; it's not applied to grapple checks. So, Juliana would be risking at least a 50% chance of ending up in a grapple if her AOO wasn't used. Plus, she didn't know in advance what LongTooth would do if the grapple failed. Personally, I'd take the "stop the grapple" AOO. Biting lycanthropic WereRats are no fun in an embrance.[/SBlock]
