(Adventure) M1: Goblin Ears and the MTG (dpdx judging) COMPLETED

Being surrounded by her allies, Irene finds it hard to do anything. Inspired by the magic of Charlarn, she tries to stab the thug in her reach.

Tenebrynn lashes out with his quarterstaff, trying to knock the would-be kidnapper off his feet.

[Full attack on T2 - Quarterstaff (Double) +2/+2 1d6+3/1d6+1 20/x2]

[ooc: yup he should, casting a spell only occupies his action. Before and after that he is assumed to be ready for any AoO provided he had a weapon in hand (I assume he did).]

Telebryn & Charlyn cast their spells as the thugs charge.

T1 swings his longsword at Nurlan, striking him a viscious blow for 5 pts dmg. T2 stabs at Telebryn with his rapier, which deflects at the last instant from the elf's hastily erected armor. T5 stabs Charlyn with his rapier, which glances off the heavily armored cleric. T4 slashes at Jezibel with his longsword, but she deftly dodges.

Should Charlyn get an AOA on T4 even though he was casting a spell?

I think so -- his spell was a standard action, so it's finished now. I suppose it would be different if the spell-casting time was longer than a full-round action, but as it is, I don't see why it would occupy him any more than someone who was making a melee attack. Mind you, I'm not a 3.x rules expert, so there may well be some text buried somewhere that contradicts me. But hey, you're the DM, adjudicate as you see fit.

Nurlan will try to snatch T2's rapier out of his hand (Improved Disarm feat: +4 to disarm attack roll, and does not provoke AoO). If that fails, he will use his move action to draw his mace, getting ready to use it, probably against T1, next round. If the disarm attempt succeeds, he will be using the rapier instead.

I'm going to say no "AOA". Bless has a somantic component, which requires a free hand. I would assume he would let his mace hang by its wrist strap rather than drop his sheild to do a spell. I'm still open to another opinion, though.

He hasn't drawn his morningstar yet, so no AoO for him this time. :) Not sure about when he has drawn it, though.

For his next turn, Charlarn will drawn his weapon from his belt (move action) and attack T4 (standard action; Atk +2, Dmg 1d8+1) since he threatens Jezibel and Irene. I'll apply my +1 dodge bonus to AC against T4.

Round1/Round2

Irene strikes out effectively with her dagger, cutting Jezibel's attacker on the thigh (2 pts). Nurlan sidesteps his opponents rapier thrust, and with surprising deftness for a man of his bulk, snatches the rapier out of his hand.

Round 2
Jezibel produces another dagger from her shapeless dress, and thrusts it into T4's shoulder, screaming obscenities like a sailor. Charlyn also strikes at that unlucky thug, but misses.

[I'll let Telebryn reconsider his action if he wishes before continuing]

I've never DMed a disarming attempt before. OK, lets see here. Nurlan attack roll: +4 (feat) -4 (open handed)+2 (str) + 15 (roll) =17 Opposing rogue: 7 (roll) + 1 (modifiers) =8 Result: Nurlan's Rapier, you lucky stiff!

Tenebrynn will continue to give the thief a good thumping with both ends of his quarterstaff provided he is still standing.

[ooc: Full attack on T2 - Quarterstaff (Double) +2/+2 1d6+3/1d6+1 20/x2 for both rounds. Not sure why I need to reconsider things. Just want to wack the guy with both ends of the stick.]

Round 2 (con't)

Telebryn is striking at an unarmed man; I just wondered if he wanted to change his target to a more threatening oponent.

Telebryn lashes out at the disarmed thug. Though not particularly skilled, the elf's great strength smashes his staff through the man's upraised arms, and whacks him heavily on the forehead, sending him crashing to the ground. (6 pts dmg)

The thug facing Nurlan strikes again, hitting the bard across the head with his longsword, and sending him twirling to the ground in a spray of blood. (Nurlan unconscious.)

The other longsword-armed thug[T4], pressed on all sides, takes a 5 foot step back, holding his longsword defensively. His companion again stabs at Charlyn with his rapier, slipping it underneath his armor and into tender flesh (4 pts dmg)

[T4 is now out of range for Irene's HTH attack]

Initiative sequence Round 2
